On Weight Watchers…

Eleven years ago, I was very overweight. I cringe to admit that I was probably obese. And then I lost 85 pounds. The end. :)

I’ve gained a bit of that back in the past five years- only about 15 pounds of it, but still. I really, really miss that point I was at ten years ago. Yes- I lost 85 pounds in one year. Which is just in the healthy weight loss range- I lost an average of 1.6 pounds per week, consistently.

Lately, I’ve tried Daily Burn and Skinny Bitch. I have been wholly optimistic about them, but they just haven’t done it for me. They both just expected too much of me. I am a faithful vegetarian, but Skinny Bitch needed me to go fully vegan. And Daily Burn wanted to cut half of my vegetarian diet (no soy products allowed). Daily Burn is also based mostly on an exercise regiment, and I am just not that good.

So a few months ago, I had a pretty stupid revelation. How about I do what I did in the first place? Duh.

When I lost all of that weight, it was with Weight Watchers. I went to meetings every week. I tracked everything. I was practically religious about it.

There was only one problem this time- I did not feel comfortable going to meetings. I want to lose ten or fifteen pounds. I don’t feel good right now, my clothes don’t fit right, and on my last work wellness exam, my body fat percentage was ridiculous. It came up as obese. Obese. I wear a size 4 (well, probably a 6, if I was buying clothes right now).

So, I decided to try Weight Watchers Online. I hated it. First, it was crazy expensive for what you get.  And it didn’t sync with any of my other stuff.  I have a Fitbit and a Fitbit Aria scale, so this was a huge deal for me.  So I cancelled my subscription.

Last month, I decided to give it one more go.  Still disappointed – they claimed to sync with Fitbit, but it didn’t really work.  Something weird happened over the weekend, though.  The app is actually visually appealing.  It doesn’t seem to be crashing.  Biggest perk of all – Weight Watchers’ app is actually syncing with my Fitbit account!

Check it out- it looks great:

I have to say, I am impressed.  Nicely done, WW.  Right in time for that post-Thanksgiving guilt that will kick my butt and get me back on track.
